A presentation regarding local web-tech initiatives was given to Bega Valley Shire Council on Wed 6th Feb 2013 by a team comprising IntoIT members Liam O’Duibhir (TripleACS), Libby Hepburn (Atlas of Life in the Coastal Wilderness), Jo Thopre (Gottagetaway) and Lee Bilby (Bilby CNC 3D printing). A number of key issues were raised :

  • Council engagement regarding the growing local Web and Tech community
  • Web Tech as a potential new sector for the region
  • The need to attract skilled Sea-Changers to the region to ignite even greater entrepreneurial activity
  • The need for NBN and options to deal with the impact of the likely delay to our region receiving it
  • “Its about people not infrastructure” – through grassroots and networking activities, the Web Tech sector can be boosted without the need for significant infrastructural spending
  • Encouragement for councillors and their associates and acquaintances to attend the Sea-change Start Up Camp Merimbula (SSUCM2). Click here for more info.
